Congratulations to retired psychotherapist and trauma specialist Gudrun Frerichs, whose first thriller has been longlisted for the 2020 Ngaio Marsh Award for Best Novel.
Said our judges: "A beautifully written and very engaging psychological thriller … lots of people have had a go at MPD in the past but what’s different is the MPD person isn’t just a victim – it’s not seen as a disability ... The handling of the MPD is very well balanced.” If you haven't read it yet, get a copy here: After a tough judging process in the strangest of years, we are stoked to reveal the longlist for the 2020 Ngaio Marsh Award for Best Novel. Kia ora rawa atu to all our fab entrants this year, and whakamihi to the terrific #yeahnoir storytellers who've made the longlist for our tenth anniversary season (11th season overall). The finalists for the 2020 Ngaios (in both the Best Novel and Best First Novel categories) will be announced later this year, with the authors celebrated and the winners revealed at a special event at the WORD Christchurch Festival to be held from 29 October to 1 November 2020.
